THREE PROGRAMS.
ONE TRAIN OF THE FUTURE.

Three product programs on one LNG turbine-PMG platform, all leading to NexGen’s Train of the Future.

All Programs

One Platform, Four Programs.

Each program launches as a product in its own right. Together they build the Train of the Future.

Umbrella Program

Train of the Future

All three programs culminate in the Train of the Future.
Applications
  • Modular High-Speed Hybrid Train Architecture
  • Hybrid Prime Mover: Gas Turbine + PMG + Storage Batteries, fueled by LNG
Program 01

Rail Solution

Hybrid Prime Mover: Gas Turbine + PMG + Storage Batteries

A swap-in replacement for the diesel engine in existing locomotives.

Applications
  • Class I and Short-Line Fleets
  • No new right-of-way or overhead wires

Program 02

Power Solution

5MW Containerized Power Module

Behind-the-meter Power for critical sites and remote applications.

Applications
  • Data Center Backup, Oil & Gas, Mining
  • Critical Infrastructure, Remote and Off-Grid Sites

Program 03

Feed Gas System

60K–100K GPD Small-Scale LNG Liquefaction

Small-scale LNG plants that supply fuel to railways.

Applications
  • Modular LNG Fueling Depots and Railway Fuel Supply
  • 60,000–100,000 gallons a day of liquefaction

Umbrella Program

The Train of the Future.

A four-phase plan to help big Rail compete in the supply-chain world.

Phase 1
Repower DemonstratorEquip and test existing Tier 3 locomotives with Gas Turbine + PMG + Storage Batteries.
Phase 2
Design & PrototypingNatural-Gas Turbines, Cryogenics, AI Modeling and Full-Scale Prototype Testing.
Phase 3
Demonstrate, with PartnersProve the social, technical and practical value with equipment and financial partners.
Phase 4
The Train of the FutureDesign and build a demonstration of NexGen’s freight Train of the Future.
200 km/hStreamlined for high-speed operation
3.6 MWePer gas-turbine genset, three per train, on LNG
108Container cars in three freight sections
0En-route crew changes, origin to destination

Each freight section: Forward Freight (18 cars) · Genset Car · Power Distribution Car · LNG Tender Car · Rear Freight (18 cars), with a control car at each end of the train.

Control Car
  • Four individually powered wheels, each with its own 160 kW traction motor
  • Speed and torque controlled wheel by wheel, car by car
  • Room for two 2-person crews, so the train runs non-stop
Freight Cars
  • Every wheel delivers traction
  • A secure, streamlined body around one 40/45 ft container or two 20 ft containers
  • Cars coupled by force-sensing drawbars
Power Chain
  • Clean-burning refrigerated LNG fuel
  • A 3.6 MWe gas turbine drives a high-speed, low-voltage generator
  • An active-front-end rectifier feeds the train’s DC bus
Program 01

Rail Solution.

Hybrid Prime Mover: Gas Turbine + PMG + Storage Batteries
  • A swap-in replacement for the diesel engine in existing locomotives
  • Same frame, trucks and traction motors
  • For Class I and Short-Line Fleets, with no new right-of-way or overhead wires
  • About 40% lower fuel cost and Tier 4 NOx with no urea or exhaust filters
